Hola!

I’m Mariana De La Rosa an Educator with 10 years of experience,
dedicated to helping kids express themselves through creativity.
With a bachelor's degree in Design and experience in Performing Arts, I bring a unique approach to my classes.
I teach workshops at the Maritime Museum and you can also find me hosting families at the Australian Museum.
One of my favourite experiences as an Art Educator was working alongside the artists at the Sculpture by the Sea workshops for schools.
Becoming a mum has strengthened my passion for art and education. I’m excited to share it with your little artists!
As an art educator with a deep passion for nurturing young minds, I’ve designed our art classes to be an inspiring, hands-on experience that sparks creativity, curiosity, and a love for learning.
Drawing from the philosophies of Montessori and Waldorf education, I offer a play-based approach to art that encourages children to explore, experiment, and discover their own unique creative expression.
What We Do:
-
Process Art: We focus on the journey of creating, not just the finished product. Each child’s process is celebrated, whether they're painting, sculpting, or crafting, helping them develop skills that extend far beyond the art room.
-
Design Thinking & Creative Problem-Solving: With my background as a designer, I incorporate design thinking into our classes. This approach teaches children to tackle challenges, think critically, and approach projects with innovative solutions—skills that will serve them in every area of life.
-
A Play-Based, Child-Centered Approach: Inspired by Montessori and Waldorf education, my classes foster a sense of wonder and exploration. Every activity is designed to be hands-on, organic, and child-driven, empowering each child to lead their own learning experience.
Why It Matters:
In a world that is rapidly changing and increasingly dominated by screens and technology, it’s more important than ever to give kids tools that allow them to connect with the real world and with each other. Art is a powerful way to do this—it’s an experience that fosters awareness, mindfulness, and a deep appreciation for the world around us.
Awe, Curiosity, and a Love of Learning:
At the heart of my teaching is the belief that awe and curiosity are essential to a child’s growth. In our classes, we explore the beauty of the world and encourage students to see with new eyes. By cultivating a space where learning feels exciting and joyful, I aim to inspire a lifelong love of discovery.
What Your Child Will Gain:
-
A deep sense of creative expression and individuality
-
Strong problem-solving and design thinking skills
-
An appreciation for the art-making process
-
Confidence in their abilities and a sense of accomplishment
-
The tools to navigate an ever-changing world with a curious, open mind
If you’re looking for an educational experience that empowers your child, connects them to the real world, and sparks their love of learning, I would love to have them in my art classes. Let's nurture their creativity and curiosity together!

Art Beyond the Classroom
My son is my biggest inspiration, and together we love exploring art through hands-on projects and museum visits.
These shared moments fuel my passion for teaching, and they shape the way I guide children in my classes - encouraging them to explore, experiment, and connect with art in a meaningful way.
Just like we discover new things together, I strive to create an environment where every child can develop their own creative journey.

Fun at the Art Gallery
Sketch pads in hand, we wandered through the exhibits, capturing our favorite pieces along the way.
The goal was simple: to look closely, explore freely, and enjoy the creative process without pressure.
Every sketch was an adventure, reminding me of the joy in discovering art through playful exploration.
Art exploration is a daily adventure
With paint, brushes and unconventional tools.
We experiment freely, letting creativity flow to the rhythm of jazz music.
It's all about open-ended expression, discovering new possibilities, and appreciating the joy of the creative process.

A little bit of my work
I am very lucky I get to do what I love.
These are photos from 2 of my favourite projects I've done while working at the museum space.
A beautiful blue lobster and a pair of rare Maugean Skates!
My favourite media is cardboard, combined with imagination the possibilities are endless!
